Please note: This position is open until filled, however it may be closed at any time after an initial 5-day recruitment period if a suitable candidate pool is identified. The position provides strategic leadership and oversight for DEQ’s Enforcement, Environmental Review, Renewable Energy, and Communications programs. This role serves as the agency’s policy lead for complex and often controversial permitting, compliance, and enforcement matters. The position ensures programs are implemented effectively, in compliance with applicable laws and regulations, while advancing DEQ’s mission through sound policy development and stakeholder engagement. This position requires that the selected candidate complete a Statement of Personal Economic Interests as a condition of employment, per the Code of Virginia § 2.2-3118.2. This position may require you to operate a state owned or leased vehicle. Therefore, a valid driver's license is required. Please note this position follows a hybrid work schedule to include both in-office and telework. Candidates must be able to work from the assigned work location in Virginia.
