ALS Coal is currently seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Coal Quality Tester to join our well-established team in Richlands in our sample preparation area. This is a full-time position opportunity with the opportunity to grow a career in the Coal Industry. As a Coal Quality Tester, you will support the day-to-day operations of the Physical Testing Laboratory. You’ll play a key role in ensuring high-quality analytical results, meeting turnaround time targets, and maintaining the highest standards in safety, client service, and productivity. Day to Day Contribute to the development, review, and continual improvement of quality systems and procedures Sorting bags of samples (weighing up to 16kg) Operating sample preparation equipment (weighing scales, crushers, pulverisers, etc.) Performing routine manual tasking in a coal processing environment Process samples efficiently without compromising accuracy or quality Perform general laboratory duties, including cleaning and maintenance of work areas Ensuring that all work is carried out in a safe and efficient manner and to agreed standard operating instructions A range of physical tests including sample preparation, sizing, crushing, dividing and sample storage Hands on physical work Skills, Experience & Qualifications Positive attitude and strong work ethic Ability to perform physical tasks when required Previous coal quality testing experience advantageous but not essential Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment medical Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong customer service focus and proactive, solutions-based approach High attention to detail and commitment to quality standards Working at ALS The ALS team is a diverse and dedicated community united by our passion to make a difference in the world.
