COASTAL ENGINEER:

We are seeking a motivated and technically skilled Coastal Engineer to join our team in delivering impactful solutions for coastal communities and infrastructure. This role focuses on the planning, design, and implementation of coastal engineering projects across the Gulf Coast, South Atlantic Ocean coast, and the Caribbean with emphasis on flood protection, shoreline stabilization, habitat restoration, and resilience planning.
The ideal candidate will bring experience working in dynamic coastal environments and be familiar with the unique challenges of the coastline, including storm surge, subsidence, and hurricane impacts.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in Coastal or Civil Engineering.
  • EIT or Professional Engineer (PE) license in Florida, Louisiana, or Texas (or ability to obtain within 6 months).
  • Familiarity with local, state and federal coastal policies and permitting requirements.
  • Experience working on FEMA floodplain studies, Corps of Engineers projects, or coastal resiliency planning initiatives.
  • Experience with nature-based and hybrid infrastructure approaches.
Responsibilities
  • Support the design and delivery of coastal infrastructure projects including dunes, seawalls, levees, breakwaters, revetments, and beach nourishment.
  • Perform coastal and hydrodynamic modeling using tools such as ADCIRC, SWAN, Delft3D, MIKE21, Beach-fx, CMS-Flow, CMS-Wave, and others.
  • Perform analyses of wave statistics, tides, and sediment transport.
  • Assist with the permitting process through the state, federal, and other regulatory agencies.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including water resources engineers, environmental scientists, GIS specialists, and planners.
  • Prepare technical documents, engineering reports, and presentations for clients and stakeholders.
  • Conduct field assessments and site inspections along the coast.
  • Contribute to the development of climate adaptation and sea-level rise strategies for coastal communities.
