JOB TITLE: COATING INSPECTOR

Department: Quality Control / Inspection
Reports To: QA/QC Manager or Project Manager
Location: Abu Dhabi, UAE

JOB SUMMARY:

The Coating Inspector is responsible for monitoring and inspecting the surface preparation and application of protective coatings on various materials and equipment (e.g., steel structures, pipelines, tanks) to ensure compliance with industry standards, client specifications, and safety requirements. This role plays a key part in maintaining the integrity and longevity of assets by ensuring quality in the corrosion protection process.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or relevant vocational training is a plus.
  • NACE or SSPC certification (e.g., NACE CIP Level 1, 2, or 3) is highly preferred or required depending on project.
  • Proven experience in coating inspection in the construction, oil & gas, marine, or industrial sectors.
  • Strong understanding of coating systems, surface preparation methods, and inspection techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret specifications, drawings, and material data sheets.
  • Proficient in report writing and documentation.
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Physically fit for working in demanding environments (e.g., confined spaces, heights, offshore).

    Pay: AED4,500.00 - AED7,000.00 per month

Experience:

  • Coating Inspector: 2 years (Required)
Responsibilities
  • Conduct visual inspections and use specialized tools (e.g., DFT gauges, holiday detectors) to verify coating quality.
  • Monitor and document surface preparation processes, including abrasive blasting and cleaning.
  • Ensure that environmental conditions (e.g., temperature, humidity, dew point) meet specified parameters before, during, and after coating application.
  • Verify that coating materials are stored, mixed, and applied in accordance with manufacturer data sheets and client specifications.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed inspection records, including daily reports, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and photographic evidence.
  • Communicate with project engineers, contractors, and client representatives to resolve coating-related issues.
  • Perform final inspections and issue inspection release certificates upon job completion.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable standards (e.g., NACE, SSPC, ISO, or project-specific).
  • Promote safe work practices and ensure adherence to site safety regulations.
