You'll lead operational delivery across the road maintenance network, manage resources and work programmes, and build strong customer and stakeholder relationships, helping us keep Central Otago's roads safe, resilient and performing at their best. Mō te tūranga | About the role Reporting to the Department Manager – Maintenance, you'll provide operational leadership across the CODC Maintenance Contract, overseeing the delivery of road maintenance activities and leading a team of supervisors, crews and subcontractors. This is a varied role that combines field leadership, stakeholder engagement and office-based planning, requiring a strong presence across the network and work sites. You'll play a key role in ensuring maintenance works are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard, helping keep Central Otago's transport network reliable and fit for purpose for the communities that rely on it every day. Ngā kawenga matua | Key responsibilities Lead the day-to-day delivery of road maintenance operations across the Central Otago network, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard. Coordinate crews, plant, materials, subcontractors and suppliers to deliver planned and reactive maintenance programmes. Manage operational performance, monitoring productivity, contract KPIs, response times and customer outcomes. Build strong relationships with Council representatives, customers, subcontractors and key stakeholders to support successful contract delivery. Support planning, budgeting, forecasting and asset management activities to ensure resources are aligned with current and future work programmes. Drive a culture of safety, continuous improvement and team development across the maintenance operation. Kei te kimi mātou i tētahi e whai ana i ēnei pūkenga | We’re looking for someone with Relevant qualification in Civil Engineering, Infrastructure Management, or a related field (or equivalent industry experience). Proven experience leading operational teams within road maintenance, civil construction, infrastructure, or a similar environment. Strong understanding of road maintenance operations and contract delivery. Demonstrated ability to plan, programme and manage people, plant and resources effectively. Sound commercial and financial acumen, including experience with budgeting, forecasting and performance management. Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build strong customer, contractor and community relationships. A strong commitment to health and safety, quality outcomes and continuous improvement. A current Class 1 Driver Licence.
