Job Description: 4LEAF is seeking a qualified Code Enforcement Officer within the City of Vader, Washington area. Candidates should have a minimum of one year of experience working as a Code Enforcement Officer. Process outstanding customer service skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, and have a valid Washington driver’s license with a clean driving record. Key Duties: Knowledge of basic codes, ordinances, laws, and regulations pertaining to code abatement. Safe and efficient work practices as they relate to code enforcement. Modern office procedures and methods such as basic computer knowledge regarding word processing and databases. Basic principles of records maintenance and report preparation. Effective and positive techniques for working and communicating with the public. General municipal services and the municipal organizational structure as they relate to code enforcement and court procedures, including, but not limited to, citation issuance, obtaining various types of inspection warrants and court documents. Requirements Qualifications: Have 2+ years of experience in nuisance, blight, substandard housing, and unpermitted construction. Ability to apply principles, practices, methods and techniques of code violation investigation and enforcement to facts observed with impartiality and efficiency. Apply codes, ordinances, laws, and regulations pertaining to code abatement and interpret and apply state and local policies, procedures, laws, and regulations. Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, obtain various types of inspection warrants and court documents. Maintain and update records, logs, and reports, operate photography equipment, operate a variety of office equipment, including computer equipment. Respond to inquiries, complaints, and requests for service in a fair, tactful, and timely manner, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work, including difficult and uncooperative people. Candidates Must: Maintain a healthy working relationship with contractors, builders, and the public. Must have good customer service skills including good listening and negotiating skills. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must have excellent critical thinking and decision-making skills. Must have the ability to identify and solve complex problems by conferring and providing information to developers, engineers, architects, property owners, contractors, and others regarding code requirements and alternatives. Must be able to kneel, crouch, and climb tall ladders. Must have a valid Washington driver’s license.
