Description The Welder II is a full-time position that will operate out of the L&L Fabrication Douglas Weld Shop. This position will be expected to weld at a CODE level whether the project they are working on is Code or Non-Code, a common material or uncommon material. This position will be expected to act with agility and be willing to pivot from welding, to fitting, to assisting in the development of the team environment. The roles and duties of this position may adjust and adapt to business needs over time. Rate of Pay – $24.00 to $30.00/hr L&L Fabrication is an ASME Code vessel shop Holding U and R stamps. We offer ASME-coded work built to spec, along with repairs and maintenance on used pressure-rated equipment. Expected Roles/Responsibilities: weld Non-Code and Code articles to satisfactory quality GMAW, FCAW, SMAW, all per WPS Weld to expectation and rise to challenges such as 100% NDT Process Materials with accuracy and efficiency Oxy-fuel, Plasma, Saw, Mag-Drill, and Grinder Use all shop and personal tooling safely and appropriately. Drive a forklift safely and appropriately. Participate in team setting that will develop and build welding and fabrication ability for oneself and colleagues. Provide a SAFE team member that is accountable, respectful, and empowered to introduce new opportunities for getting the job done. Plans details of work order procedures; gathers required tools and materials based on instructions and specifications provided for the job. Repairs and fabricates various items and equipment using cutting, burning, and welding techniques and equipment. Monitors the welding, burning, and fitting process to ensure parts are not overheated or damaged by warping, distortion, expansion, or shrinkage. Prepares, assembles, and tacks weld parts and surfaces to be welded. Maintains, organizes, and cleans equipment and the work area. Notifies supervisor when faulty equipment or defective materials are discovered. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Requirements for the Role: Code Welding Experience (ASME Sec. 8/9, B31.3, AWS D1.1, AWS D17.1) Mechanical Aptitude Operational understanding or appreciation for a manufacturing environment Ownership – attitude that shares wins and owns losses. Basic understanding of design techniques, principles, and tools necessary for the precise production of technical plans, drawings, models and blueprints. Excellent ability to read and listen to assignments given in a variety of forms. Basic understanding of mathematics as related to welding assignments. Weld Testing Requirements (3G requirement only): 3G Plate Test - GMAW Vert Up on ¾ Plate (GMAW root / GMAW-P or FCAW hot and Cap) 4G Plate Test – GMAW OH on ¾” Plate (GMAW root / GMAW-P or FCAW hot and Cap) Physical Requirements: Must be able to weld components that are vertical, flat, or overhead. Must have enough manual dexterity and stability as required for precision work. Must be able to see details at close range. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at any time, 50 pounds regularly, 100 infrequently. Must be able to traverse facilities and machinery by climbing, balancing, lifting, walking, stooping, and carrying materials.
