REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma or GED
• Certification as CPC or CCS-P
• Minimum 2 years’ experience coding General Surgery professional services
• Proficiency in assigning and abstracting ICD-10-CM and CPT codes from provider documentation

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Review operative reports and physician documentation to assign accurate codes, ensuring maximum charge capture and compliance with coding guidelines.
• Serve as a liaison between clinical and billing departments, responding to coding-related inquiries promptly.
• Ensure accuracy, quality, and timeliness of coded data for reimbursement, statistical, and reporting purposes.
• Meet established productivity and proficiency benchmarks.
• Attend required coding seminars, hospital, and departmental meetings; participate in ongoing professional education.
• Demonstrate strong customer service skills, maintaining confidentiality and treating all stakeholders with respect and professionalism.
