Job Details Job Location: Orthopedics NN - Newport News, VA 23606 Position Type: Full Time Job Category: Billing Position Summary The Coding Supervisor is responsible for assisting the Office Manager in overseeing all coding activities. Responsible for assisting and supervising members of the coding team. Assist with securing, maintaining, and distributing the most current coding information and implementing changes. Major Duties and Responsibilities Assist the Manager in supervising staff and overseeing daily office operations. Maintains working knowledge of coding guidelines. Provides coding training and/or support to the coding team and staff in other departments. Participates in coding-related denial meetings. Works with providers and clinical staff to improve documentation. Works with the Central Billing Office team to ensure appropriate resolution on coding related denials. Assists with time and attendance for team members. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of organizational policies, procedures and systems. Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10 and other relevant coding. Knowledge of third-party fee profiles and reimbursement. Skill in advanced computer coding applications. Skills with Microsoft applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access and other web-based applications. Skill in identifying and resolving complex coding problems. Skill in exercising initiative, judgment, discretion and decision-making to achieve organizational objectives. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public. Ability to work scheduled hours as defined in the job offer. Ability to delegate responsibility and authority to staff. Ability to communicate information effectively with patients, medical staff, and others. Education / Training / Requirements High School diploma/GED. Minimum of 3-5 years in the medical field, with coding experience. Possess and maintain active CPC, CCS, COC, CCS-P, or CCA certification required. Must have knowledge of CPT and ICD-10. Physical Demands Ability to stand and walk for periods of time. Ability to sit for extended periods of time. Ability to climb or balance for limited periods of time. Ability to occasionally reach, bend, stoop and lift up to 30 lbs. * Ability to grasp and hold up to 25 lbs.* Ability to hear normal voice level communications in person or through the telephone. Ability to speak clearly and understandably.
