JOB DESCRIPTION

• Teach & lead coding classes and events both in person & online
• Inspire creativity and encourage curiosity in students
• Complete the activities prior to class and become familiar with each session
• Create safe, comfortable, and fun classroom environments
• Work with students to develop their own individual learning path
• Track each student’s progress and provide feedback to parents
• The teacher must be present for the entire class time, guiding students to read and complete the materials, mitigating distractions, keeping students on-task, assisting with bugs or mistakes, and helping students properly save and manage files.
• The teacher will use pre-written lessons and adhere to the prescribed software.
• Sessions are student led, and the teacher will be responsible to ensure that the student achieve their maximum potential.
• The teacher to view the role as a fiduciary responsibility, considering the teaching to be primarily a service to ensure the success of each student.
• The teacher will be expected to help the student resolve minor hardware or software issues that may disrupt the learning experience.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Experience in using PYTHON or JAVA SCRIPT or any other object-oriented language
• Experience in teaching SCRATCH, HTML or any other computing skills
• College/university graduating students or recent graduates with a diploma or degree in computer science or computer engineering
• Experience working with and leading kids in learning settings such as school, summer camps
• Experience as a camp counselor, tutor or teacher is a must
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, written and oral
• Comfortable using and/or learning computer, software, hardware, electronics, new technologies
• Reliable, energetic, and well-organized
• Pass a police clearance/vulnerability sector check
• Flexible with schedule
