Minneapolis, Minnesota Position: Coil Taper - 2nd Shift Team: Winding Primary Objective of Position: Insulates, by hand, mechanical device, or automated equipment, coils and related component stator and rotor parts to meet all insulation specifications. Skills Matrix: The Coil Taper position is part of the Winding Team skills Matrix. This position works as a team member utilizing and performing to the Winding Team skills matrix, which outlines the comprehensive skills in the Winding Team. Major Areas of Accountability: Correct implementation of insulating procedures found in the department procedural book #6. Employee is required to train to all necessary equipment and procedures that are used to perform these tasks. Discipline of all shelf life dates, refrigeration and non-refrigeration of both materials and product per Shop Standards 080A001K and 080A143K. Monthly Validation of all tape measures used to ensure product quality per SQR-10. Proper calibration of all measuring equipment used for insuring product quality. Must have the skills and abilities to use the required measuring equipment to meet the required primary objective of the position. Self-inspection is required to ensure product quality. Accurate time reporting, both direct and indirect, on the bar code system. Must be able to work within the time limits established by the department supervisor for each job, while ensuring that product quality and personal safety are being achieved. Insulates using such materials as mica tapes, Nomex glass tapes, cotton tapes, conductive tapes and any required filler materials necessary to accomplish desired specifications. Makes and cuts, using proper equipment, and applies other materials such as but not restricted to sleeving, side pieces, sealers, bonding materials, mylar sticks, etc. Insulate flat copper field coils after washing and removing all burrs. Mandatory respirator usage required when performing the grinding operations. Buffs and insulates phase rings for half coil units. Mandatory respirator usage required when performing the buffing operation. Adheres to all company mandated rules and regulations. Requires minimum supervision. Performs to ISO 9001 Quality Standards and abides to OSHA and EPA Regulations. Actively participates in continuous improvements. Responsible for demonstrating on-going commitment to the Principles and Actions of the Total Quality Process. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: High School degree (preferred) with a 1 year of manufacturing experience (preferred). Ability to be certified in overhead crane, Jib crane and forklift operation. Math skills required to compute cross sectional areas for wire splices. Physical Requirements: Routinely lifts and moves objects up to 20 lbs. Occasionally lifts and moves objects up to 50 lbs. Routinely ascends/descends ladders and stairs. Occasionally works at heights or on platforms. Occasionally positions self in various works spaces, including low, tight or confined spaces. Routinely remains in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods of time. Frequently uses repetitive motions including the wrists, hands or fingers to operate machinery or tools. Routinely moves from one work station to another to accomplish tasks. Salary: 1st shift salary range $20.00 hourly to $24.00 hourly Will compensate with experience. Position is full-time. Pay Types Voluntary weekend overtime. Saturday is paid at time and a half, Sundays are paid at double time!
