Description Cold Night Café team members play a vital role in supporting the safe, respectful, and compassionate operation of the Cold Night Café during Code Blue events. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a direct impact in the community by helping individuals stay safe during extreme cold weather. A Cold Night Café provides an overnight space for individuals experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity during severe winter conditions. A Code Blue is activated when temperatures reach 32 degrees or below, at which time the Cold Night Café is made available to open and provide a safe, welcoming, and non-judgmental space to stay for community members in need. Job Responsibilities: Remain on call for the opening of the Cold Night Café when a Code Blue is activated. Open the Cold Night Café and prepare the facility for guests. Welcome and engage guests in a trauma-informed, compassionate, and nonjudgmental manner. Provide basic support and assist with resource navigation and referrals to community services. Help maintain a safe, calm, and respectful environment for guests and staff. Close the Cold Night Café at the end of operations, ensuring the facility is clean, secured, and properly shut down. Other duties as assigned. ·Shifts: 6-hour overnight shifts Weekends and holidays Opportunity to work double shifts On-call availability required during Code Blue events Skills / Qualifications: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Education / Experience Experience working in health and human services field or settings where there has been experience with verbal de-escalation and crisis management is preferred.
