Job Details Level: Experienced Job Location: BROOMFIELD, CO 80021 Position Type: Full Time Education Level: High School Salary Range: $26.17 - $32.72 Hourly Job Shift: Day POSITION SUMMARY: The Collateral Specialist is responsible for managing all aspects of collateral documentation for consumer auto loans and other secured loans. This position ensures accurate and timely lien perfection, title processing, UCC filings, and documentation management in compliance with credit union policies, state/federal regulations, and lending guidelines. The role supports the loan lifecycle by resolving discrepancies, responding to internal and external inquiries, and maintaining accurate collateral records. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Process and perfect auto loan title liens with appropriate jurisdictions within established timelines. Onboard new consumer auto loans and conduct outreach to members as needed. Perform title corrections, manage rejections, and track resolution status. Process lien releases on paid-off vehicles according to credit union policy. Manage UCC filings for other secured collateral (non-real estate). Respond to internal Help Desk tickets related to vehicle loan requests. Complete title auditing, file maintenance, and document scanning/indexing. Manage Electronic Lien Titles (ELTs) and paper title check-in processes. Respond to vehicle payoff requests and provide member support. Provide support to branches and internal departments regarding loan documentation. Answer member phone inquiries and resolve issues promptly and courteously. Maintain well-organized collateral files (physical and digital) and ensure data accuracy. Participate in required department meetings and training. Maintain confidentiality and uphold the credit union’s professional standards. Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS Education/Certification: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required. Additional business coursework preferred. Notary Public certification may be required based on jurisdiction. Required Knowledge: Basic understanding of consumer lending practices and collateral requirements. Familiarity with lien perfection processes and vehicle title regulations. Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws related to consumer loan collateral. Understanding of loan documentation and title tracking procedures. Experience Required: 1–3 years of experience in consumer lending, loan servicing, title processing, or a related role. Experience with DMV systems, lien perfection, and consumer loan documentation preferred. Prior credit union or financial institution experience strongly preferred. HARD/TECHNICAL Skills/Abilities: Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook). Experience with core banking and loan servicing systems (e.g., Symitar, MeridianLink, or similar). Familiarity with Electronic Lien and Title (ELT) systems and DMV web portals. Skilled in scanning, indexing, and maintaining digital and paper collateral records. Accurate data entry skills and ability to maintain high standards for data integrity. Ability to read and interpret vehicle titles, lien documents, and loan agreements. Comfortable generating and reviewing title tracking and lien reports. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and multitasking ability in a time-sensitive environment.
