Description Wage: $26.92 to $33.65 hourly Job Type: Full Time (40 hours per week) Closing Date: 5/23/2026 or until filled Purpose: Reporting to the Collection Acquisition Supervisor, the Collection Acquisition Librarian oversees system-wide inventory maintenance for Douglas County Libraries’ (DCL) collections. This role ensures consistency and quality across all locations by centralizing processes and promoting a unified, customer-focused approach to collection development. The position collaborates cross-departmentally to support DCL’s organizational goals. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Collection Strategy (75%) Oversees system-wide inventory quality by evaluating and removing worn or underperforming items, ensuring consistent standards and strategic alignment across all DCL locations; adjusts shelving layouts to enhance customer browsing and inventory performance. Collaborates with Collection Development to enhance content, respond to staff and customer purchase requests, and inform decisions about physical and digital inventories. Communicates with teams across branches to advocate for the collection, streamline feedback to Collection Development, and align inventory use with community needs. Oversees seasonal material rollout, displays and end-of-season storage, and contributes to readers’ advisory content and book club kit development. Manages inventory processes and reporting, viewing the collection holistically across branches to support seamless maintenance and a premium customer experience. Customer Engagement and Support (20%) Creates positive experiences for staff and customers by delivering consistent, professional service and maintaining a welcoming presence in all areas. Acts as a key liaison between Collection Services, branch leadership and staff, ensuring clear and timely communication across the organization. Builds strong relationships and delivers excellent customer service through regular branch visits, meetings, trainings, and collaborative efforts. Leads collection-related training and supports public engagement by promoting consistent merchandising techniques; maintains related documentation. Other Duties (5%) Develops proficiency in relevant industry and organizational technology. Engages in DCL’s performance feedback process and meets departmental expectations, policies and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned. Ability to learn and apply new technologies. Preferred Master’s degree in library/information science A combination of experience and education will be considered. Physical Requirements: Must have a reliable method of transportation between all DCL locations. Must have the physical ability, stamina, mobility and manual dexterity to support a 7-day a week operation. Work at computer work-stations repetitively and for extended periods. Access and transport materials up to 50 pounds. Participate in meetings and events at various locations and at varied times throughout the day. Ability to read as small as 8pt font.
