Applicants should have a strong client focus, attention to detail, excellent communication and organisational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team. We require flexible, proactive individuals with strong digital literacy skills and a willingness to learn new skills.
Qualifications in library and/or information studies recognised by the Australian Library and Information Association, or equivalent library experience is also desirable.

Job Specific Requirements:

  • Operate manual storage units and handle collection material weighing up to 6kg.
  • The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (Protected/Restricted) security clearance.

Under limited/general direction undertake duties in accordance with the agreed standards for the Parliamentary Service Level 4 classification. The duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Undertake the disposal process for collection items such as monographs and reference serials, including the identification, processing and documentation of collection items marked for disposal.
  • Oversee the binding of collection material and organise complex binding tasks such as the binding of parliamentary publications.
  • Investigate and capture items suggested for addition to the Library’s electronic repository.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of library collection and acquisitions records in the library management system, including data remediation work on collection data.
  • Contribute to client service delivery through liaising with clients, internal staff, and external agencies to resolve any issues in library collection management and acquisition of library materials.
  • Contribute to improvements to the section’s procedures and guidelines.
  • Contribute to other collection management and corporate activities as required
