THE ROLE

Are you passionate about curating library collections that reflect community values, culture, and history? Do you thrive on collaboration, leadership, and staying at the forefront of library trends?
We’re looking for a Collection Services Librarian to lead and oversee collection services across our network of 11 library sites across the MidCoast region. In this role, you’ll ensure our collections meet best practice standards, align with industry trends, and respond to customer demand. You’ll also have the exciting opportunity to develop and enhance digitisation projects, showcasing and preserving our region’s local culture and history.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage and oversee library collections to meet the evolving needs of our community.
  • Lead inter-library loans and coordinate book rotations across library sites.
  • Support the development of digitisation projects and ensure collections represent our local culture and history.
  • Manage the collections budget effectively, ensuring resources are optimized.
  • Actively participate in industry networking, collaborations, and professional development opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Branch Librarians and the Digital Library Specialist to deliver cohesive and innovative services.
  • Support readers services and library initiatives to enhance customer experiences.
  • Be an effective leader, managing staff and fostering their professional growth and development.
We’re looking for a qualified librarian with a degree in library studies, information management, or cultural services, combined with proven experience in public libraries and collection management. Excellent organizational skills are critical, including expertise in coordinating staff, handling budgets, and managing administrative workflows. Strong leadership abilities and the capacity to navigate the challenges of a dynamic and fast-paced environment are essential for this role.
This is a great opportunity to contribute to continuous improvement in library services and deliver community-focused outcomes tailored to our region. You’ll have the chance to make a real difference in our libraries by shaping collections that reflect local history and culture, fostering innovation, and enhancing the library experience for our customers.
