ROLE PURPOSE

The Museum has an exciting opportunity for a professional to join the Collection Platforms Business Unit, providing high quality project support to Museum staff in the use and development of its collection management systems.
This position plays a critical role in the coordination and operation of the Museum’s Collection Systems, particularly through providing project support and coordination, technical development and documentation, scheduling and user support and training for the Collection Management System (currently EMu) and Digital Asset Management System (currently Piction). You will equip Museum staff with skills in both general use and specific business processes. You will also develop and maintain associated training documentation including manuals and data entry guidelines.
You will work with internal stakeholders to solve problem issues using technical skills and enhance the systems to improve business processes and efficiencies. You will also assist with data cleaning and work associated with data migration and systems upgrades, and the publication of records onto the Museum’s online catalogue, Collection Explorer.

To be successful in this role you will have experience in project coordination including managing schedules, writing project documentation and communicating with stakeholders.
Experience in the administration and technical management of data driven systems is preferable, particularly in collection management within a cultural institution context.
You will be adaptable and responsive to user needs when providing training and support, being able to readily distill information and communicate effectively with a wide range of users with varying levels of system proficiency.
You will preferably have a background in or understanding of collection management and/or data asset management practices to help identify potential system improvements and workflows. You will also have excellent problem-solving and trouble-shooting abilities.
