COLLECTIONS AGENT JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Collections Agent plays a crucial role in managing and resolving complex outstanding debts. They are responsible for a portfolio of challenging accounts and employ advanced negotiation techniques to secure payments, while adhering to all relevant regulations. This role requires exceptional negotiation skills, a deep understanding of collections laws and regulations, and the ability to work independently to achieve collection targets.

COLLECTIONS AGENT JOB DUTIES:

  • Manage the regional portfolio of complex and/or high-value delinquent accounts, including B2B and/or B2C debts
  • Initiate outbound contact via phone calls, emails, and letters with customers to negotiate payment arrangements, resolve disputes, and secure payments
  • Analyze customer financial situations to determine appropriate payment solutions, including payment plans, settlements, or legal action recommendations
  • Investigate and resolve complex billing discrepancies, customer complaints, and disputed charges in collaboration with other departments
  • Utilize advanced negotiation techniques to overcome customer objections and secure commitments for payment
  • Accurately document all collection activities, communications, and payment arrangements in the collections system
  • Monitor payment plans and follow up on broken promises to pay
  • Recommend accounts for further action, such as write-offs, legal action, or referral to a third-party collections agencies, following established guidelines
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of all federal and state collections laws and regulations and ensure compliance in all interactions
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of collections processes and strategies.
