The purpose of the Van Driver
We have two stores with 20,000 customers and three vans making over 40 collections and deliveries a day. Assisting the team working in the stores and vans is essential; you can’t lift a wardrobe on your own. The driver prepares the furniture for delivery as your Driver’s Mate rings the doorbell and cheerily greet our customer. The driver closes the van as you Driver’s Mate leaflets the surrounding houses advertising our stores. The team in the stores need to take breaks and we cover each other to ensure our customers are always dealt with efficiently, the stores required regular cleaning and sweeping, beds need to be made and furniture put together.
We’re trusted by our customers as we enter their homes, trusted to keep their carpets clean, their walls unscathed and most of all we’re trusted to show the values of Trinity. We’re only as good as our trust. We work to strengthen the relationships with our team and customers and seek to add value in everything that we do and give support and learning at all times. We work flexibly and informally but at all times draw from a strong foundation of measurable outcomes and indicators of success; donations, sales, attendance and development.
At Trinity we have a sort of a ‘golden rule’, - our ongoing personal development and life processes are linked with our work; this gives us the ability to model resourceful states and ensures equity as we share our journey together.
Are you the right person?
Naturally, the success of our approach depends on having the right people with the personal qualities. Few organisations place such a premium on a team member’s human qualities, personal development processes and self-awareness. In this job, it really matters what kind of person you are.
Genuine friendliness in Team Members is essential and while there are necessary boundaries in this work, these should be applied with sensitivity and discretion. It is important to be a good listener with the ability to reflect back.
Open mindedness, a ready acceptance of people ‘where they are at’ and a democratic world view according equality to all people, is the approach which really assists the processes at hand.
Physical fitness and strength is essential as is a driving licence.
Finally, on an idealistic but also attainable note, people who possess, develop and creatively employ the qualities outlined above can effectively and enduringly find many ways of creating pathways within themselves.
We will be holding a group interview for this position on Thursday 24th October at our offices in Uxbridge, we are looking to offer the position on the same day.
