Job Qualifications: High school graduate or equivalent. Associate or bachelor’s degree in business or financial management preferred. Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in collections, preferably in financial services institution. Supervisory experience preferred but not required. Essential Functions: · Reviews delinquency and charge off results and coaches staff for improved performance. · Develops and updates collection policies and procedures. · Maintains positive interaction with the members, staff, Repo agents, and attorneys. · Possesses a broad understanding of credit reports and skip tracing tools. · Analyzes financial statements. · Reviews accounts for legal, repossession, and foreclosure actions. · Reviews loan record and files for refunds for ancillary products including GAP and warranty. · Files skip claims. · Maintains bankruptcy files on members. · Addresses members complaints and determines appropriate resolution. · Negotiates payment arrangement plans for members. · Possesses a good relationship with local police, law enforcement, and other collection departments. · Exhausts all options to recover losses including but not limited to garnishments, levies, judgements, and cross-collateralization. · Adheres to guidelines and collection practices set by the Board of Directors to ensure delinquency and charge-offs are maintained at an acceptable level and financial objectives are met. · Fosters a positive and collaborative work environment, encouraging teamwork, integrity, and exceptional member service. · Works with the Chief Lending Officer to provide input to strategic decisions that affect the Collections Department. · Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Skills/Abilities/Knowledge: · Broad knowledge of credit union collections policies and procedures. · Ensure compliance with internal collection policies and procedures. · Possess strong member relations and excellent judgement and decision-making skills. · Possess excellent negotiation skills. · Extensive knowledge of consumer and mortgage lending regulations, state and federal collections laws and regulations. · Ensure adherence to regulations/guidelines from external regulatory and legislative agencies. · Ability to work independently, as well as contributing to a team, in a face-paced environment. · Ability to organize work and to uniformly direct the activities of subordinates. · Skilled in technology in applicable computer programs and virtual/digital work. Ability to work in a paperless environment. Ability to work with confidence in multiple software applications. Has the ability to incorporate existing or available technologies to help automate certain processes. Ability and willingness to learn new processes and apply them appropriately. · Strong Microsoft and PDF software skills. · Skilled in both written and verbal communications, able to correspond with members and vendors with professionalism. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of associates. Ability to communicate at all levels of the organization · Ability to encourage teamwork and professionalism through positive recognition for employee performance above standard. · Possess a positive approach to discipline for poor employee performance. Ensure a high level of employee morale. · Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills. · Demonstrates leadership and collaboration skills. · Works well under pressure and displays a strong commitment to integrity and client confidentiality. Mental & Physical Requirements: Requires sitting 6-8 hours a day; Stress related to making important decisions and managing a team.
