As a Collections Specialist, you will play a key role in supporting our clients by facilitating the timely recovery of unpaid court judgments. The ideal candidate will be self-driven, capable of working independently, and adaptable to shifting priorities. Strong problem-solving and strategic thinking skills, along with the ability to manage a high-volume call workload, are critical for success in this role.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE

  • Completion of High School Diploma
  • Minimum one year experience in Sales, Customer Service, or Collections
  • Previous experience in call center collections, accounts receivable, or a related field (experience in a law firm is a plus) is an asset.
  • Knowledge of the litigation process and court procedure is an asset
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with a particular comfort and confidence in phone conversations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office at an intermediate level.
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to resolve conflicts effectively.
  • Ability to communicate persuasively and listen critically
  • Skilled at multitasking and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced and changing environment.
  • Self-motivated, resourceful, and able to prioritize and complete tasks with urgency.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in escalated situations
  • Strong attention to detail and adherence to compliance guidelines.

Responsibilities:

  • Proactively manage a portfolio of accounts to recover outstanding debts via phone calls, emails, and written correspondence after having received court judgments
  • Manage a high volume of unpaid court judgments in accordance with company work-plans and client directives.
  • Communicate daily in efforts to collect outstanding debts with debtors via inbound and outbound calls and email.
  • Adhere to a high-compliance environment as mandated by legislation and client requirements.
  • Maintain the security and integrity of all information handled.
  • Conduct skip trace, asset investigation and review financial documents as required.
  • Identify and verify options for enforcing court judgments to support debt collection efforts, including employment information, active bank accounts, and property ownership.
  • Coordinate with various third parties, including debtor representatives and/or legal counsel, bankruptcy trustees, credit counselors, court staff, payroll managers, and sheriff offices across the province.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including the Legal Team, Team Leads, Managers, and Finance, to resolve files.
  • Investigate and resolve debtor complaints and follow escalation procedures as required.
