Description Summary The Collections Specialist supports the entire Gulf Coast Small Business Servicing team through many different activities. The primary role is to assist with past due loan payment collections, payments modifications, collection of past due collateral monitoring items such as tax returns and etc. The Collection Specialist will be responsible to perform a variety of processing and review functions, specifically regarding loan repayment. Responsibilities Handle delinquent loans from 10 to 90 days past due, ensuring timely communication with borrowers. Contact borrowers regarding overdue payments and delinquent collateral items (e.g., tax returns, financial statements). Prepare and send demand letters to delinquent borrowers to prompt payment. Maintain delinquency tracking reports to monitor and manage loan statuses effectively. Facilitate payment workouts and complete payment modifications and servicing requests. Prepare loan modification agreements and order updated third-party reports (e.g., appraisals, site visits). Process loan payoffs, prepare release documents, and log paid files for archival. Coordinate with department personnel and other departments to ensure efficient information flow. Support various roles within the Servicing Team by providing cross-training and assistance as needed. Adhere to all internal policies and regulatory requirements, including BSA/AML/OFAC guidelines. Assist with administrative tasks and special projects to support department operations. Participate in classes, seminars, and training to enhance skills and stay updated on industry practices. Follow all safety and security protocols to protect sensitive information. Other duties as assigned. Requirements Skills/Experience/Education High School Diploma or equivalent is required; a college degree is preferred. 2 years of relevant experience in a business operations role within a fast-paced environment is preferred. Experience in SBA and loan servicing is beneficial but not mandatory if you have a solid understanding of the commercial loan process, collections, documents, and basic loan covenants. Strong understanding of small business loan processes and familiarity with commercial loan documents and covenants. Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in using PC, laptops, tablets, and smartphones, along with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team, consistently meeting deadlines. Strong organizational and time management skills, with a focus on detail and accuracy. Self-starter with the capability to multitask and tackle challenges proactively. A commitment to meeting deadlines, maintaining attendance, and accepting accountability. Positive attitude towards changes in the work environment, showing flexibility and openness to new ideas. Exceptional customer service skills, ensuring a positive experience for clients and colleagues. Essential Mental & Physical Requirements Ability to travel if required to perform the essential job functions. Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines. Ability to read and interpret a document if required to perform the essential job functions. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer may be required. Ability to lift/move/carry approximately 15 pounds if required to perform the essential job functions.
