HERE’S WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

We’re looking for someone with a strong understanding of credit risk approaches, debt processes, and key performance drivers, with the ability to link operational outputs to financial and customer outcomes. You should have excellent analytical skills, be an innovative thinker, and have experience developing and implementing improvements in complex organisations.
As a proactive self-starter, you’ll be able to manage multiple priorities under pressure while maintaining a strong focus on delivery and results. A solid background in analytics and data mining is essential, with the ability to translate data into meaningful insights. Collaboration is key, as you’ll work across virtual teams and multiple functional areas to drive performance and efficiency.

Responsibilities

The Collections Strategy Performance Analyst role sits within the newly formed Business Excellence function within British Gas Business Energy, whose focus is to drive highly efficient and effective operational performance.
The purpose of the role is to ensure the business has a clear understanding of its outsourced Debt Treatment performance, collaborating with operational teams to set targets, understand and mitigate risks and identify opportunities to improve performance, and deliver efficient and effective market leading debt performance
The role has responsibility to deliver performance analytics & understand the effectiveness of our collection strategies, to reduce the cost of debt for BGB. This role is fundamental to gain a deeper level of insights and enable optimisation by deploying robust credit and collections based decisions

The Key accountabilities for this role are:

  • Understand, report and analyse monthly collections strategy performance, ensuring we can link operational activity to financial outcomes in order to reduce the cost of debt for BGB
  • Collaborate with wider debt teams to establish performance routines, monitor key performance metrics, set performance targets and monitor progress
  • Assist in forecasting collection strategy performance and setting realistic but stretching goals.
  • Proactively identifying opportunities/risks, making recommendations, and seeking resolutions with the wider team
  • Identify and implement controls and processes to ensure all debt is being treated
  • Support the business leads with adhoc analysis to enable better credit and collections decisions
  • Support the deployment of tactical and strategic changes to collection strategies
  • Build strong working relationships with the key internal and 3rd Party stakeholders to successfully deliver effective risk based collection strategies
  • Support the development and implementation of performance improvement initiatives, with clear articulation of costs versus benefits of decisions made
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of operational performance and change initiatives
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices, appreciating what best in class credit risk performance looks like both internally and within other organisations/industries
