Description

McCoy Federal Credit Union is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Collector to join our Collections team. The Collector is responsible for contacting members with delinquent accounts, negotiating repayment arrangements, and taking appropriate action to resolve delinquencies while maintaining a professional and positive image.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; previous collections experience in a financial institution preferred.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and handle stressful situations professionally.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:

  • Knowledge of collection procedures and related laws and regulations.
  • Understanding of Credit Union loan products and policies.
  • Basic understanding of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code.
  • Understanding of Small Claims Court system.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Previous collections experience preferred, banking or credit union experience a PLUS!

SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Excellent communication, telephone, and public relations skills.
  • Accuracy and thoroughness of work.
  • Ability to work independently.

Responsibilities
  • Review delinquency reports and verify account status.
  • Contact members via phone, mail, and other methods to arrange repayment.
  • Negotiate payment plans, recommend extensions or consolidations, and suggest financial counseling when appropriate.
  • Perform skip tracing and coordinate repossessions or legal actions as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of all collection activities.
  • Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
