PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Responsibilities
  • Prepares a variety of communications related to college and career planning to be disseminated to parents and students utilizing a variety of media. Assists students with selecting high school classes to meet the qualifications for acceptance into specific schools and programs upon graduation.
  • Advises and consults with parents and students regarding college testing, college planning, and career exploration. Administers career assessment inventories to students. Reviews assessment results with students and directs them to appropriate resources for further information.
  • Prepares and facilitates daytime and evening presentations for classrooms and families, providing an overview of available resources and tips related to planning for college and/or a career.
  • Gathers and maintains information on scholarship opportunities; participates on the Scholarship Review Committee for nomination scholarships; schedules and conducts monthly scholarship review meetings; evaluates student backgrounds against scholarship requirements; ensures paperwork is complete for nominated students; communicates with students on the status of their scholarship application; and/or, performs other related activities. Assists students in locating and completing legitimate scholarship opportunities.
  • Attends meetings, seminars, and conferences held by colleges and universities to obtain updates and information to utilize in determining student fit for applicable schools and/or programs.
  • Maintains up-to-date career and college reference books; reviews and evaluates college testing programs. Monitors students who are conducting research in the college and career center; communicates study abroad and summer college programs. Foster a welcoming environment where all students feel supported.
  • Administers and oversees the annual honors award ceremony, which includes: scheduling facilities; soliciting community members to present awards; setting up facilities for the presentation of awards; preparing invitations to students and families; responsible for generating awards; preparing honors award ceremony and/or, performing other related activities in relation to event planning.
  • Plans field trips to local/in state colleges, trade schools, and career focused opportunities.
  • Assist in planning and executing District-wide events.
  • Gathers annual senior post high school data via the senior survey.
  • Collects statistical data for publication in the school profile.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level
