Description
College Intern - AI-Driven Simulation & Design Description - What a College Intern - AI-Driven Simulation & Design does at HP: Simulation & Analysis: Develop portions of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) models for mechanical and thermal hardware; conduct simulations of product-level tests and analyze results to provide actionable insights for design improvements. AI-Enhanced Simulation: Explore and apply AI-driven tools to accelerate simulation workflows, improve prediction accuracy, and enable design optimization. Design Integration: Contribute to engineering solutions for mechanical and thermal hardware, electronics enclosures, and production tooling, in accordance with established principles and specifications. Validation & Testing: Implement test plans for existing designs, including tolerance validation, form/fit/function, shock and vibration, EMI, safety, reliability, acoustics, and system power measurements. Collaboration: Build relationships with internal and outsourced development partners; participate on project teams to deliver reliable, cost-effective, high-quality solutions. Innovation: Support pilot projects that integrate AI into simulation workflows, such as predictive modelling, generative design, and automated meshing. Individuals who do well in this role at HP, usually possess: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Mechanical Engineering or related fields. Available for a 5–6 month full-time internship starting mid-2026. Familiarity with 3D CAD tools (e.g., Creo Elements Direct Modeling/ProEngineer). Experience or understanding of FEA tools (e.g., Altair HyperWorks, ANSYS) is highly preferred. Understanding on Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). Strong fundamentals on mechanics of materials, kinematics and materials engineering. Have practical knowledge on various material testing (e.g Fatigue test and Creep Test). Interest or exposure to AI/ML concepts and their application in engineering (e.g., predictive modelling, optimization). Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; understanding of mechanical and thermal properties of materials. Bonus: Programming skills (Python, MATLAB) for simulation automation and data analysis. Sustainable impact is HP’s commitment to create positive, lasting change for the planet, its people, and our communities. This serves as a guiding principle for delivering on our corporate vision – to create technology that makes life better for everyone, everywhere. HP is a Human Capital Partner – we commit to human capital development and adopting progressive workplace practices in Singapore. #Li-Post Job - Administration Schedule - Full time Shift - No shift premium (Singapore) Travel - Relocation - Equal Opportunity Employer (EEO) - HP, Inc. provides equal employment opportunity to all employees and prospective employees, without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, ancestry, citizenship, sexual orientation, age, disability, or status as a protected veteran, marital status, familial status, physical or mental disability, medical condition, pregnancy, genetic predisposition or carrier status, uniformed service status, political affiliation or any other characteristic protected by applicable national, federal, state, and local law(s).
