Buffing operations are generally performed, while standing, by applying each individual assembled instrument (weighing up to 25 lbs.) or related components at various angles to a rotating buffing wheel. Blend (using an appropriate “broken-down” buffing wheel) assembled instruments or components. These operations are performed, while standing, by applying each individual assembled instrument (weighing up to 25 lbs.) or related components at various angles to a rotating buffing wheel. Buffing compounds are routinely applied to the rotating buffing wheels. These operations require employees to set-up the lathe and corresponding buffing wheels and may require several wheel changes. Manual “ragging” operations are generally performed, while standing, at a stationary buffing mantel.
