Responsibilities

YOUR NEW ROLE

We’re seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Financial/Commercial Analyst to support a new business unit that will build operate and maintain large scale batteries. Based in the heart of Sydney’s Tech Central precinct at our modern Haymarket office, this role offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment that supports innovation, collaboration, and growth.

  • Develop and enhance financial models for corporate and project finance.
  • Provide commercial analysis for business cases, including scenario and risk assessments.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial risk management.
  • Deliver insights through presentations, reports, and decision-making tools.
  • Monitor performance against plans and milestones, identifying key drivers.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external consultants to ensure aligned outcomes.
  • Evaluate bids, tenders, and proposals with a commercial lens.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and tighter financial controls.

As a Senior Financial/Commercial Analyst, you’ll play a key role in delivering advanced financial and commercial insights to support strategic decision-making across the business. You’ll work closely with internal stakeholders and external advisors to evaluate investment opportunities, assess financial viability, and contribute to business planning and performance monitoring. Below are some of the skills you will need to support this work.

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, commerce, economics, engineering, or related field.
  • 3–5 years’ experience in financial/commercial analysis, ideally in energy, infrastructure, or renewables.
  • Experience with complex contracts for infrastructure including offtake agreements or renewable energy power purchase agreements (PPAs).
  • The tech skills for this role include:
  • Advanced capabilities in excel and financial modelling
  • Non-essential but well regarded are basic programming skills, sql and databases
  • Strong understanding of valuation techniques and scenario analysis.
  • Experience in planning, reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Knowledge of the National Electricity Market (NEM) and energy regulation.
  • Experience in infrastructure finance and equity investment.
  • Familiarity with complex regulatory and competitive environments
