POSITION SUMMARY:

The Estimator I is responsible for producing high-quality estimates for a variety of projects. This role works closely with the Estimating and Operations leadership teams, as well as subcontractors, to help ensure that all corporate and departmental goals are successfully achieved.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution and/or a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or a combination of both.
  • A degree in Construction or Engineering is preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in at least three (3) construction trades is required.

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required.
  • Strong understanding of construction industry standards, practices, and methodologies.
  • Experience with industry-standard estimating software is required; OnScreen Takeoff and Timberline preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and documentation.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure estimates are accurate, complete, and aligned with departmental and operational standards.
  • Develop detailed and reliable estimates for preconstruction, construction management, and hard bid projects.
  • Perform precise quantity takeoffs.
  • Conduct site visits when necessary to support estimate accuracy.
  • Participate in value engineering, design-build efforts, and design/document reviews as required.
  • Attend document review meetings at the start of each estimating cycle.
  • Collaborate with subcontractors to develop comprehensive and accurate scope sheets.
  • Input and maintain up-to-date data in historical cost, subcontractor, and vendor databases.
  • Maintain organized documentation for each estimate, including updates to project estimating binders.
  • Ensure trade scopes are clearly defined and well-coordinated to prevent scope gaps or overlaps.
  • Solicit bids from subcontractors as needed to support estimating efforts.
  • Attend presentations and participate in interviews as requested.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors and the design community to help ensure competitive pricing.
  • Abide by company policies, procedures, and expectations while demonstrating accountability and professionalism.
  • Travel as needed and adjust work schedule to accommodate project deadlines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
