The Opportunity We are seeking an experienced Commercial Finance Manager to join our team part-time (3 days a week) for a 12-month maximum term contract, in our Sydney office. This role will suit a finance professional with strong business partnering skills and a proven ability to deliver strategic insights and financial leadership in a high-performance environment. You will support the Regional Managing Partner to drive performance, provide insights for decision-making, and deliver the group’s annual finance activities in collaboration with the Head of Finance for the Finance Practice Group. What you’ll do Support the Regional Managing Partner and Finance Partners on any financial matters. Monitor and report on business plan progress, financial results, and performance metrics. Identify trends and recommend proactive strategies, including business cases for partner candidates and resource planning. Advise on productivity and efficiency improvements to drive profit growth. Track short- and long-term financial performance, including WIP, debt, and expenses, and develop mitigation strategies. Identify and optimise profit and cash flow drivers. Review operating results and conduct variance analysis. Analyse profitability of clients, matters, and pitches using standard reports. Lead budgeting and forecasting activities, including updates throughout the year. Prepare financials to support secondments, promotions, and strategic initiatives. Contribute to pricing and remuneration reviews and other firm-wide processes. Ensure financial compliance, including expense approvals via Chrome River, in line with firm policy. Collaborate with Business Development and HR to align resourcing with client needs and profitability goals. Support ad hoc projects and global initiatives related to the Finance Practice Group. Share best practices across Business Finance. Fulfil WHS responsibilities, including team supervision to maintain a safe and respectful workplace. What you’ll bring A minimum of 5 years’ experience Tertiary qualifications in Commerce or Finance Qualifications as a CPA/CA will be highly regarded Demonstrated business partnering and influencing skills Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills.
