Overview

Mitchell Adam are delighted to be partnering with a well-established and growing retail business based in Solihull, who are looking to appoint a Commercial Finance Analyst to join their finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an analytically minded finance professional who wants to move beyond traditional reporting and play a more active role in understanding what drives commercial performance.

Working closely with finance and wider commercial teams, you'll be responsible for analysing financial and operational data, helping to identify trends, opportunities and areas of underperformance. You'll have strong exposure to sales, margin, costs and profitability, producing analysis that helps stakeholders understand the story behind the numbers and make better-informed decisions.

As you develop within the role, you'll become increasingly involved in budgeting, forecasting and commercial planning, supporting senior stakeholders with reporting and presenting your findings in a clear and meaningful way. With a broad remit across the business, this is a strong opportunity to build genuine commercial finance experience within a fast-paced retail environment.

Skills Needed

  • Experience within a finance, commercial analysis or management accounting role with a strong analytical element.
  • Strong Excel skills with confidence manipulating, analysing and presenting large datasets.
  • A good understanding of P&L performance, particularly around revenue, margin and cost analysis.
  • Strong communication skills with the confidence to work with non-finance stakeholders.
  • Part-qualified, finalist or qualified accountant, or equivalent commercial finance experience.

What You Will Receive

  • A genuinely commercial role with exposure to sales, margin, profitability and business performance.
  • The opportunity to work closely with senior stakeholders and influence decision-making through your analysis.
  • Broad exposure to budgeting, forecasting and commercial planning within a successful retail business.
  • A supportive finance team with clear opportunities to develop your analytical and business partnering skills.
  • A modern Solihull-based environment with strong long-term progression opportunities.

Summary

This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional looking to build a career in commercial finance rather than remain purely focused on month-end reporting. If you enjoy analysing numbers, understanding the reasons behind performance and presenting your findings to the wider business, this role offers the opportunity to develop those skills in a fast-moving retail environment.
