About the role We have an opportunity for a Commercial Finance Manager to join our finance team and play a key role in shaping HG’s commercial performance. Reporting to the Head of Finance and based in Auckland, this is a senior commercial leadership role with responsibility for owning pricing discipline, margin expectations, and oversight of commercial performance across the business. Working closely with National Service Line Leaders, Project Managers, and the wider leadership team, the role is forward‑looking, influential, and outcomes‑focused — suited to someone comfortable operating at pace, challenging thinking, and protecting and improving profitability across a complex professional services environment. Key responsibilities include: Own and embed pricing discipline and margin expectations across service lines and projects. Provide commercial oversight of project and service line performance, identifying and responding to margin and delivery risk. Analyse and support investment decisions and strategic opportunities. Lead budgeting, forecasting, and scenario analysis to support informed, timely decision‑making. Identify profitability trends across clients, services, and projects, translating insights into clear recommendations for leaders. Build commercial and financial capability across Project Managers and discipline leaders through coaching and practical guidance. Provide leadership, development, and direction to a Commercial Finance Analyst, ensuring high‑quality analysis, insights, and outputs. Drive continuous improvement in commercial processes, financial models, and reporting, working closely with the wider finance team. Your skills and experience You’ll bring strong commercial judgement and trusted influence, along with: Proven experience in a senior commercial finance role, with strong capability across pricing, margin management, financial modelling, commercial agreements, and stakeholder engagement. Experience providing commercial oversight across projects or portfolios, with sound judgement around commercial risk and performance. Experience working across finance and data, with exposure to BI and reporting environments. Demonstrated ability to partner strategically with senior leaders, influencing and constructively challenging decisions to support strong commercial outcomes. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex financial information into clear, actionable advice. Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field.
