Description Matthews Motors is seeking a motivated Paint Prep Technician / Painter Helper to join our team. This position plays a critical role in preparing trucks, trailers, utility bodies, and heavy equipment for high-quality industrial paint applications. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a career in commercial and industrial painting. You will work alongside experienced painters, learning industry-standard techniques while contributing to a fast-paced production environment. Requirements Primary Responsibilities: Prepare trucks, trailers, equipment, and utility bodies for painting Sand, grind, and clean metal surfaces Mask vehicles and components prior to paint application Remove rust, old coatings, and contaminants Mix paint and prepare materials under painter supervision Load and unload vehicles into paint booths Maintain paint booth cleanliness and organization Clean and maintain spray equipment Assist with minor bodywork and filler applications Perform final inspections and touch-ups as directed Follow all safety, environmental, and OSHA requirements Qualifications: Previous experience in automotive, industrial, construction, or manufacturing environments preferred Experience with sanding, grinding, masking, or painting is a plus Ability to lift 50 lbs and work on your feet throughout the day Strong attention to detail Reliable transportation and attendance Willingness to learn industrial painting techniques
