Job Title: Hood Vent Cleaner and Suppression Trainee
Pay Rate $25-$35 hourly Part time, Full time Team Leader and Casual positions available. Head lead position can be monthly salary if desired and position will involve Sunshine Coast Division delegating staff, communicating with clients, documenting work provided, and maintaining vehicle equipment and supplies. Bonuses and profit sharing will be available for individual who wishes to grow with business.
Job Summary:
The Hood Vent Cleaner is responsible for cleaning and maintaining kitchen exhaust systems, including range hoods, vents, ducts, and fans, to ensure they are free from grease and debris. This role plays an essential part in ensuring a safe and clean environment in food service establishments.Additional training in achieving Asttbc Certification for Pre-engineered fire Suppression, emergency lighting and extinguishers.
Key Responsibilities:
Cleaning and Maintenance:
Clean exhaust hoods, filters, and ducts to remove grease, debris, and other buildup.
Scrub and sanitize vent systems, fans, and blowers to ensure proper airflow and functionality.
Inspect and maintain exhaust systems to ensure they are functioning efficiently and safely.
Use specialized cleaning equipment, tools, and chemicals to safely remove grease and grime.
Safety and Compliance:
Ensure that all cleaning tasks comply with local fire codes, health regulations, and safety standards.
Team Leaders will be responsible for records of cleaning schedules, services performed, and inspections for compliance audits.
Maintain a safe work environment by following all safety procedures and wearing necessary protective gear
Inspection and Reporting(Team Leader)
Inspect exhaust systems for any damage, malfunctions, or potential fire hazards.
Report any required repairs or maintenance issues to the appropriate personnel or management.
Customer Interaction(Team Leader)
Communicate effectively with clients or kitchen managers regarding cleaning schedules and needs.
Provide recommendations for ongoing maintenance or upgrades to kitchen vent systems.
Physical Demands:
Lift, move, and climb to reach high areas, such as hoods and ducts.
Perform cleaning tasks in a timely unsupervised manner
Skills and Qualifications:
Physical Stamina: Ability to lift heavy equipment, stand for long periods, and work in challenging environments.
Attention to Detail: Ensure all areas of the exhaust system are thoroughly cleaned and inspected.
Experience: Previous experience in hood vent cleaning, fire suppression or a similar field (preferred but not required). Extensive training for right candidate
Technical Skills: Ability to operate hot water pressure washer equipment an asset
Communication: Ability to work well with clients and coworkers.
Work Environment:
Commercial kitchens or foodservice environments.
Often requires working in high or tight spaces.
Potential exposure to fumes and grease
The role is essential in maintaining kitchen safety and cleanliness, helping prevent grease fires and ensuring proper ventilation for healthy air quality in cooking environments.
