What you’ll do Advise colleagues on commercial issues to reduce legal risk. Draft and negotiate contracts that support services, suppliers and partners. Spot legal issues early and give clear recommendations that guide decisions. Build strong relationships so teams come to you before a problem grows. You have Proven experience of handling your own workload and providing sound independent legal advice. Confidence in identifying commercial risks and negotiate commercial contracts independently. Proven experience of supervising or mentoring members of a team, supporting other team members to make decisions. A law degree or are a solicitor or barrister, or equivalent with experience in commercial and/or public sector legal work. Sound knowledge of commercial contract and procurement law. Knowledge and experience of Information Technology contracts could also be beneficial. You have strong communication skills and build trusted relationships. We typically work on a hybrid basis with 2 days per week in our Newcastle office, with the rest from home. Our anchor days in the office are currently Monday and Wednesday.
