Florence Bank is looking for a Commercial Lender to expand the Bank’s commercial lending efforts in western Massachusetts as well as the greater Hartford, Connecticut area. We are currently seeking candidates to join our exceptional team for the following position: Job Title: Commercial Lender/VP Location: West Springfield/Remote work schedule available Salary Range:$125,888 to $230,000 *Compensation for this position is commensurate with experience. The posted range is intended to provide a general estimate and does not guarantee a specific rate of pay. Position Summary: Directs, coordinates, and controls departmental activities concerned with the extension of commercial credit at a profit to bank customers in accordance with established policies and procedures. Essential Functions: 1. Consistently provides superior professional service to internal and external customers. 2. Consistently meet expectations of teamwork, punctuality, and regular, reliable attendance. 3. Assists in establishing departmental lending policies and operating procedures that are consistent with overall bank policies and operating objectives. 4. Develops and maintains an interest rate structure that harmonizes with overall bank management policies, is competitive and affords the bank maximum profitability. 5. Prepares lending activity reports for bank management and the executive committee of the board of directors. Provides general counsel with respect to lending operations. 6. Interviews applicants: collects and analyzes financial and related data to establish creditworthiness; establishes and negotiates, when necessary, credit terms and continually monitors customers’ creditworthiness and repayment activities. Approves loans within established loan authority. 7. Develops and manages large and/or complex commercial loan accounts. 8. Reviews loan documentation prior to closing for completeness and acceptance by the applicant. 9. Ensures timely loan closing and funding activities. 10. Manage loan portfolio including renewals, modifications, updated credit analysis, collections, and portfolio monitoring. 11. Works with the Senior Commercial Lender and Chief Credit Risk Officer in commercial loan workouts and foreclosures. 12. Counsels customers, where possible, regarding business management and financial matters. 13. Assists in the department’s business development activities, including the monitoring of the officer call program. Personally, calls on customers and prospects. 14. Keeps abreast of local and national economic, financial, political, and legislative events and climates that could have an impact on commercial lending activities. 15. Provides detailed information for preparing the department budget, including projected loan volume, rate of return and expenditures. 16. Refers business to other bank areas (cash management, mortgage, consumer, retail, and investment.) 17. Maintains professional and community relations to increase the Bank’s visibility and new business opportunities, and to further personal development. Other Responsibilities: Assumes additional responsibilities, as requested. Education, Experience, and Skills Required: The following skills, background, and experience are necessary (with or without accommodation) for this position. 1. Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, finance, or related area. 2. Minimum of seven (7) years of progressively increasing responsible commercial lending experience. 3. Candidates with established networks in the greater Hartford, Connecticut region are preferred. 4. Strong, well-developed interpersonal skills in order to maximize business contacts and develop a working relationship with potential and current commercial loan customers. 5. High level of analytical skills to conduct initial commercial loan analyses and monitor the loan’s progress in consideration of, including, but not limited to, market trends, credit/interest rates, and economic conditions. 6. Ability to meet with current and potential customers and attend community and networking events during and outside of traditional business hours. 7. Valid driver’s license with sound driving record and personal transportation available. Physical Demands/Conditions Requirements: 1. General office environment. 2. Frequent use of computer. 3. Sits for an extended period of time. 4. Travels to client workplaces, community, and networking events on a regular basis. Equipment Used: * General office equipment In addition to being responsible for completing an accurate CTR for each cash transaction in excess of $10,000, Customer Service Representative, Lenders, and Safe Deposit Attendants are responsible for properly identifying all new bank customers in accordance with the bank’s Customer Identification Program. All employees handling customer accounts and transactions have a duty to report apparent suspicious activity and OFAC matches to the BSA Officer and the Security Officer.
