POSITION SUMMARY: Reporting to the Director of Loan Underwriting, the Commercial Loan Underwriting Intern will contribute to the coordination of the loan underwriting and deal flow process and progress towards completing a full underwriting assignment. Qualified applicants will preferably have some prior experience with, or classwork focusing on financial statement & tax return analysis. S/He must have strong organizational skills and analytical ability as well as show initiative and drive throughout the document request, collection, and underwriting process. Additionally, while working in an independent and reliable manner is critical, teamwork and effective communication will also be necessary for success. RESPONSIBILITIES:  * Coordinate the loan underwriting process including requesting, collecting, and managing required documentation * Distribute and maintain Due Diligence Checklists * Collect, review, and advise underwriting team regarding receipt and status of all underwriting documentation * Under supervision from senior underwriter, analyze data from credit reports, financials, and supporting documentation and transcribe into an underwriting credit narrative / loan recommendation to be presented to the Director of Loan Underwriting and the Credit Committee * Work closely with Portfolio and Business Analysts to monitor existing underwriting pipeline and deal workflow * Perform ad hoc reporting or other projects when necessary KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:  * Excellent organizational skills * Excellent inter-personal and communications skills * Ability to handle multiple tasks in a timely manner * Detail Oriented * Proficient in keyboard and word documents, redlining * Familiarity with Excel  PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND CONDITIONS: * Must be able to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time. * Must be able to occasionally lift up to 20lbs. * Consistently operates a computer and other office equipment such as calculator, copy machine and printers. * Climate controlled general office setting with moderate noise level. * Must express or exchange ideas with co-workers, customers and vendors.
