WHAT WILL I BE DOING?

As Commercial Manager, you will develop commercial strategies covering all segments and channels to maximise total revenue and profit performances as well as market share penetration. This role will assist in planning and executing the commercial strategy and activity through supporting the Revenue Management team, Sales, Catering and Events, Marketing, eCommerce and Public Relations teams. The Commercial Manager role is key to seize new opportunities through strong customer relations and works as an Ambassador for the Hotel with our key stakeholders

As the Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

  • Develop new customer accounts and travel within the local area to drive business into the hotel to increase market/customer share in all revenue streams.
  • Maintain existing stakeholder relationships and grow existing customer accounts through building relationships with key contacts, monitoring key account productivity and cross selling the group at all opportunities.
  • Have an active presence in the community both locally and nationally – attending networking events, exhibitions, local events, sponsorship opportunities.
  • Manage and deliver high performing sales day-to-day to achieve set goals reflected in the hotel’s commercial strategy contributing to the overall group strategy.
  • Identify potential new business opportunities and highlight risk situations using market intelligence and keeping in line with trends.
  • Develop in conjunction with the General Manager at group level a commercial strategy that is robust, maximises revenue opportunities and correctly positions our hotel within the marketplace.
  • Conduct sales promotion trips to target markets.
  • Maintain good rapport and communication in the marketplace locally and nationally.
  • Be responsible for the promotion of the hotel, it’s image, facilities and services to the general public, customers, the hotel and the community.
  • Be responsible for gaining positive exposure for the hotel in mass media and the community, as well as building a solid presence in the market by maintaining good relationship with the press and the local community.
  • Ensure our selling rates are in line with our commercial strategy – this will involve developing a close, effective working relationship with our central revenue team.
  • Manage the hotels revenue and booking systems ensure the information is accurate and up-to-date to allow the hotel maximise yield and ADR.
  • To take decisions relating to the commercial performance of the hotel by ensuring all decisions contribute towards the achievement of KPIs and financial targets.
  • To develop and lead the sales culture within the hotel, working with team at Hampton by Hilton Edinburgh Airport to create a fluid, cohesive process to selling the facilities on site as one team from initial show round and enquiry, to delivery of the event, to the follow up communication looking for opportunity to rebook future business.
  • To implement procedures to monitor all enquiries incoming and using the information to analyse lost, cancelled or turned down business opportunities ensuring actions are put in place based on the findings of the analysis.
  • Complete month-end reports and to be able to provide detailed commentary on progress and activities.
  • Actively involved in budget preparation and business forecasting.
  • Research, produce, gain agreement to implement and monitor the annual revenue proposal/plan throughout the year, updating as necessary.
  • Create and deliver a creative marketing plan that helps establish our hotel within the marketplace both locally and nationally.
  • Stay up to date and participate with Hilton initiated sales/ marketing events and communicate them to team members.
  • Ensure Team Members have the correct knowledge for all relevant processes, policies and promotions, as necessary, to perform their duties.
  • Recruit, train and manage staff performance in compliance with company policies and procedures, and the hotel strategy.
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities as assigned.
