Construction
We’re a well-established, fast-growing construction business with around sixty employees, working across civil engineering, retention works, low-energy housing and luxury garden rooms. We value clear thinking, good organisation and practical teamwork – and we’re proud of the calm, capable culture we’ve built. We have a strong reputation for quality and are looking for someone who can help us take our commercial operations to the next level.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As Commercial Manager, you’ll help shape and lead the commercial function across the business. You’ll oversee estimating, cost planning, procurement, and reporting, working closely with directors, project managers, site teams and factory operations. You’ll support live work while also helping us build the structure and consistency we need to grow well.
This is a hands-on, strategic role that includes developing and implementing a commercial strategy that helps the business achieve budget, protect margins, and grow sustainably. You’ll also work closely with the pre-contract team to support tenders and work-winning, and continuously review processes to ensure strong commercial management across contracts. You’ll bring experience, organisation and commercial thinking to every conversation.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
Taking the lead on estimating and commercial management across our civil engineering division.
Producing and maintaining accurate competitive estimates, cost plans and forecasts across multiple projects with significant budgetary range.
Tracking project costs, WIP and margins to support decision-making and early interventions.
Supporting procurement activity, supplier relationships and subcontractor agreements to ensure value and reliability.
Taking a hands-on role in commercial reporting, cost control and helping prepare board-level information.
Administering NEC4 and other standard contacts with confidence.
Working closely with delivery teams, design leads and factory operations to join up planning and cost control
Providing commercial input at all stages of a project, - from bid through to completion.
Being the single point of contact for all commercial, legal, financial and administrative queries
Developing and implementing a commercial strategy that achieves budget and maximises profitability
Continually reviewing and improving procedures to support effective commercial contract management
Collaborating with pre-contract teams to support tendering and secure profitable work while championing good commercial habits across the business by bringing consistency, structure and controls.
