Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting into the Regional Director, the successful Commercial Manager will be responsible for the development of the local commercial strategy that supports the effective delivery of the commercial elements of Tarmac’s national contracting strategy, business plans and objectives. You will be identifying and securing key commercial opportunities to deliver budgeted volumes, margin expectations and growth, whilst ensuring objectives and targets are achieved.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

In this role, you as the successful Commercial Manager will be carrying out the following duties and responsibilities (not exhaustive)

  • Contributing to the effective development and delivery of the business unit’s commercial strategy
  • Leading in identifying and securing a pipeline of commercial opportunities
  • Managing valuations and final accounts; ensuring Tarmac is able to maximise its value of monthly invoicing of customers
  • Preparing and finalising month end accounts in line with management procedures
  • Ensuring quality and competitive tenders are submitted and targeted contracts are won; factoring in things such as margins, financial and contractual risks
  • Managing both the production and submission of all tender information relating to commercial functions
  • Managing and developing commercial relationships with new and existing customers in order to develop and expand market share
  • Ensuring policies and procedures are in line with legislation
  • Managing and reporting cash flow
  • Effective management and coaching of all direct reports
