Description

The Role As we continue to expand our reach in solar and whole‑of‑home energy offerings, we’re searching for an additional experienced Commercial Solar Design Engineer to join our Design Services team in our Home Solutions business. With a strong pipeline of diverse commercial and industrial work across Auckland and beyond there’s plenty to get your teeth into here. You will play a key role in delivering high‑quality, technically excellent commercial solar designs. You will… Produce detailed solar and commercial energy system designs that meet technical, regulatory, and commercial standards. Collaborate with Product, Installation, Service, Sales, and wider Haier Group teams to ensure end‑to‑end quality outcomes for our commercial customers. Engage directly with project requirements—specifications, drawings, costings—and take ownership from design through to winning the project. Support the continual improvement of our design processes and build our internal knowledge base. What You’ll Work On… Commercial and industrial solar PV system design Green and sustainable building integrations Energy modelling, HVAC and hot-water system considerations Detailed drawings, load calculations, ducting/piping system evaluations Customer‑centric solution design aligned to our Home Solutions strategy You’ll be the design expert that our cross‑functional teams rely on — helping Installation, Service, Sales, and Product teams deliver exceptional customer outcomes. Our ideal applicant 3+ years’ experience designing and/or installing solar systems (HVAC/hot water experience highly advantageous) Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering Strong understanding of AS/NZS standards (4777, 5033, 5139, 4509, etc.) Knowledge of building codes and construction practices Confidence using solar and energy modelling software (e.g., SolarPlus, PVSyst, TRNSYS, Revit) Advanced Microsoft Office skills You’ll Excel If You Are… Customer‑led in your approach to design A systems thinker with strong technical depth A disciplined planner able to juggle multiple projects Decisive, curious, and comfortable challenging the status quo A natural collaborator who builds strong cross-functional relationships Passionate about sustainability and the future of energy Resilient, self‑aware, and committed to growth, and above all, has a commitment to health and safety.
