THE OPPORTUNITY

Are you someone who thrives on solving complex problems, enjoys navigating ambiguity, and loves piecing together data from multiple sources to form the bigger picture? Our Australian Steel Markets business is looking for a Commercial Specialist in our Trade Affairs team based in Port Kembla NSW or Mount Waverley VIC. This is a unique opportunity to step into a role where you’ll play a key role in shaping strategic outcomes around Anti-Dumping and Trade Affairs matters that impact our Australian Steel Products (ASP) business.
You will work across diverse business areas, from sales and marketing to finance, gaining broad exposure and engaging with senior internal and external stakeholders, including government officials. You’ll enjoy broad exposure across the business, working on high-profile trade cases that help ensure a fair-trade environment. Joining an accepting and collaborative team environment, your unique skills and insights will be truly valued and realised. Training and support will be provided as you grow your knowledge in this evolving and critical area.
This opportunity offers clear opportunities to grow your negotiation and influencing skills, with occasional travel and out-of-hours work as needed. In return, you’ll benefit from a flexible, hybrid working arrangement that supports a healthy work-life balance.

Responsibilities

Supporting the strategic development, management and execution of anti-dumping and other trade remedy activities, you’ll make a clear impact in shaping strategic outcomes. You’ll also:

  • develop an in-depth understanding of the rules-based anti-dumping framework and its commercial implications and opportunities
  • collect, interrogate, and analyse complex data sets from multiple internal systems (e.g.D365, SAP, COGNOS, Power BI) to form a comprehensive evidence base
  • collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders to gather information and ensure data accuracy
  • assist in compiling and reporting on anti-dumping monitoring including import activity and trade compliance, continuously refining monitoring processes and data systems
  • respond to ad hoc queries and requests from across the business and participate in larger investigative and research projects
  • prepare insights and recommendations to inform strategic decision-making related to domestic and international trade, including supporting preparation and lodgement of anti-dumping applications and responses
  • support engagement with government and international trade bodies on trade remedy and FTA matters
  • conduct analysis and modelling to support domestic anti-dumping initiatives and export strategies
