QUALIFICATIONS

• Journeyperson certification as a Commercial Transport/Heavy-Duty Mechanic or equivalent experience.
• Valid BC Commercial Vehicle Inspector Licence (CVIP/CVI) or eligibility to obtain.
• Strong knowledge of commercial vehicle systems (brakes, suspension, lighting, load securement, etc.).
• Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication skills to explain inspection findings clearly.
• Ability to work independently in a busy shop environment.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a skilled Commercial Vehicle Inspector to join our team in a shop-based environment. In this role, you will carry out detailed inspections of heavy trucks, trailers, and buses to ensure they meet provincial and federal safety standards. You’ll play a key part in keeping commercial fleets compliant, safe, and road-ready.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform safety inspections on heavy trucks, trailers, and buses in a shop environment.
• Identify mechanical, structural, and safety deficiencies in accordance with government regulations.
• Complete inspection reports and certification documents accurately.
• Communicate inspection results to drivers, mechanics, and fleet managers.
• Advise on required repairs to bring vehicles into compliance.
• Maintain knowledge of current transportation safety regulations and inspection procedures.
• Use diagnostic tools and equipment to support inspection findings.
