We are looking for our next Full-Time Commis Chef to join the ibis Styles team.
Job Description
ibis Styles Brisbane Elizabeth Street is seeking a passionate and reliable Commis Chef to join our energetic kitchen team. The role involves preparing and presenting high-quality dishes across breakfast buffet, à la carte lunch and dinner and conference catering. Working within a team of four chefs, you will support daily operations and take initiative when working independently. Responsibilities include maintaining a clean and hygienic work environment, ensuring mise en place is ready, and upholding food safety standards in line with current regulations. You’ll be expected to follow strict stock rotation procedures, minimise wastage, and assist with stock control. Equipment care and cleanliness are essential, with any issues reported to the Executive Chef. The ideal candidate will hold a Certificate in Commercial Cookery or equivalent experience, and show strong teamwork, flexibility, and a commitment to delivering memorable guest experiences aligned with the ibis Styles brand.

Qualifications

  • Trade qualification in Cookery
  • Experience in a similar role, preferably within a hotel environment.
  • Detail-focused with the ability to deliver consistently high-quality food under pressure
  • Energetic and proactive with enthusiasm to develop your culinary expertise
  • A team player who easily builds rapport with colleagues and guests alike
  • Time management skills with the ability to multitask
  • Good interpersonal skills with ability to communicate with all levels of team members
  • Flexible availability to work a rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays
