Description

As a Commis Chef at University Hospital Galway, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality catering services to patients, staff, and visitors. This is a rewarding opportunity for the right candidate to contribute to the preparation and service of food within UHG facilities. Our catering team plays an important part in the daily experience of hospital Patients, staff and visitors. Through excellent food quality, customer service, and teamwork, we strive to make a positive difference in each person's day. You will work as part of a dedicated team committed to maintaining high standards of food safety, quality, and service in a busy healthcare environment.

 

Are you a motivated, focused person looking to join a catering team here at University Hospital Galway? 


  • To follow the Catering Hygiene Policy guidelines along with Aramark’s dress code policy in maintaining a clean uniform and hygienic appearance at all times. 
  • To observe Aramark & the hospitals confidentiality policy. 
  • Assist the Head Chef, Sous Chefs & Chef de Parties in day to day running of the Kitchen. 
  • Provide assistant to other staff as directed by your supervisor or manager. 
  • Follow HACCP guidelines and ensure that all the necessary information is being recorded accurately and efficiently.  
  • Observes infection control and HACCP policies in food handling storage, wearing gloves and proper protective equipment.  
  • Lift and carry heavy items in line with manual handling procedure.  
  • Observe the correct use and care of equipment reporting any defect in materials or equipment properly. 
  • Co-operate fully and participate with/in all health and safety training programmes 
  • Comply with and adhere to all Aramark & Hospital policies and procedures. 
  • Adhere to the prescribed dress code and wear all safety and hygiene clothing and equipment as prescribed at all times when required to do so.  
  • Culinary expertise. 
  • To be creative. 
  • Attention to detail. 
  • Ability to multi-task and can handle multiple roles as required. 
  • Have good organizational skills. 
  • Participate in training and development programmes as required.

  • Previous experience in a similar role in a fast-paced catering business
  • An interest in people and the drive to deliver exceptional service
  • A strong background in food production
  • Knowledge of Food Hygiene, including HACCP
