The Opportunity

Are you passionate about food and looking to build your career in the kitchen?

We’re looking for an enthusiastic Commis Chef to join our kitchen team at Hiddenwell

Whether you already have some professional kitchen experience or you’re at the beginning of your culinary career, this is an opportunity to learn from an experienced brigade, develop your skills and gain hands-on experience in a busy kitchen environment

You’ll work alongside our Chefs to prepare and deliver great food for our guests while learning the skills, standards and techniques that will help you progress your career

What You’ll Be Doing

• Supporting the kitchen team with daily preparation, cooking and service
• Preparing vegetables, meat, fish and other fresh ingredients
• Following recipes, portion specifications and instructions from senior chefs
• Helping ensure every dish is prepared and presented to the required standard
• Maintaining excellent standards of cleanliness and organisation
• Following food hygiene, allergen and food safety procedures
• Completing food and fridge temperature checks as required
• Checking deliveries and report any damaged or substandard products
• Supporting effective stock rotation and help reduce food waste
• Assisting with maintaining buffet and service areas to a high standard
• Supporting colleagues across the kitchen during busy services
• Contributing ideas for dishes, menus and buffet options as your knowledge and experience develop
• Following Health & Safety, COSHH, PPE and fire safety procedures
• Taking an active role in developing your culinary knowledge and skills

• Must have good organisation and attention to detail
• Must have the ability to follow instructions and kitchen procedures
• Must have an understanding of the importance of food hygiene and safety
• Must have a reliable and hardworking approach
• Must have the ability to work well as part of a busy kitchen team
• Must have a willingness to listen to feedback and develop your skills

Previous professional kitchen experience would be an advantage, but your attitude, passion and willingness to develop are just as important to us

Additional Information

• 40 hours per week
• Working 5 out of 7 days per week (including evening, weekends and bank holidays)
• Salary: £29,000 per annum
• Shift Patterns: 8:00-4:00 1:30-11:00 9:00-5:30
• Full flexibility is key as you will be expected to work as and when necessary to meet the needs of the team and the business
