POSITION OVERVIEW

As a Commis Chef at Broadoaks, you will work as part of a close‑knit brigade to deliver meticulously prepared dishes to our guests and wedding parties. You’ll assist senior chefs and gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced, five-star kitchen environment.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • A passion for cooking and a desire to learn and develop culinary skills Exclusive People
  • Some kitchen experience—either through culinary school, apprenticeship, or prior commis role; experience in a 4- or 5-star venue is a plus
  • Basic knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen practices (HACCP certification preferred)
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with an ability to thrive under pressure
  • Adaptable with a flexible attitude—willingness to work weekends, evenings, and special event days
  • Excellent attention to detail and a clean, professional approach to work
Responsibilities
  • Assist Head Chef in preparing food to high quality and presentation standards, based on established recipes
  • Follow standardized recipes and plating guidelines to ensure consistent guest experience
  • Help monitor stock levels, rotate ingredients, and minimize food waste
  • Adhere strictly to food safety, hygiene, and HACCP standards; maintain a clean, sanitary workspace
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and report any maintenance issues promptly
  • Support new menu development and seasonal specials by contributing ideas and feedback
  • Communicate effectively with front‑of‑house and other hotel teams for smooth operations
  • Help with preparation of staff meals and participate in training and team meetings
