COMMIS CHEF

We are seeking a Commis Chef to join our busy kitchen team at the Holiday Inn, Telford/Ironbridge. Working with the Head Chef and the kitchen team, you will cook and present seasonal and homemade dishes for hotel guests, ensuring the kitchen is well organised and prepared for service to the highest of standards, whilst ensuring food safety and hygiene practices are adhered to at all times.
You will be passionate about food and have a desire to progress your career, with on-going training and longer term development offered and encouraged by us.
The role is offered on a permanent basis working 40 hours a week. The successful candidate will work 5 out of 7 days per week. Therefore, a flexible approach to work is required as this role involves a combination of shifts including weekend, late shifts and bank holidays.
This vacancy will appeal to someone looking to work in a friendly, professional and fast paced environment. You must have passion and drive to work within the hospitality industry with the ability to offer exceptional customer service. You will be highly motivated and be able to build rapport and establish relationships easily.

Skills/Experience Required:

  • Experienced Commis Chef OR basic kitchen experience
  • Level 2 Professional Cookery qualification (or equivalent)
  • Self motivated
  • Organised
  • Ability to work in a high volume large kitchen with busy service
  • Level 1 Essential Food Hygiene qualification (or equivalent

Responsibilities
  • To maintain the required level of hygiene standards as laid down both legally and by the Holiday Inn standards manual.
  • Ensure that you follow the HACCP, Hotel Food Safety rules, Basic food hygiene regulations, White book procedures at all times
  • Control a given section to the standards as laid down
  • Participate and contribute in department meetings with your ideas and menu suggestions
  • To carry out all mis en place needed, whether on a breakfast, lunch or evening service to the standards as laid out, cook dishes to highest standard and to spec and ensure highest standard of presentation to the customer ensuring customer satisfaction and positive feedback
