Role Description This is a full or part time on-site Commis Chef role with two years experience based at Joe's Restaurant and Bar in Oxford with possibly one quiet chef shift per wk. The Commis Chef will support the kitchen team in preparing ingredients, cooking dishes to specification, and maintaining high standards of food quality and presentation. Daily responsibilities include assisting with mise en place, following recipes with guidance from senior chefs, stock rotation, ensuring that food is prepared quickly and efficiently. Maintaining a clean and safe work environment, adhering to hygiene and safety regulations, assisting with stock rotation and labeling, keeping stations clean and stocked. Checking in- coming orders. The Commis Chef will work closely with the wider team to deliver a smooth, consistent service to ensure a positive guest experience.

Qualifications

  • Strong food preparation and cooking abilities, including basic culinary skills.
  • Good understanding of kitchen hygiene with level two food safety practices.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work well within a team.
  • Attention to detail, reliability, and ability to follow instructions and recipes.
  • Previous experience in a professional kitchen or relevant culinary training is beneficial.
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
