About the Role: Pullman & Mercure Melbourne Albert Park are seeing a passionate, creative and growth driven Commis Chef to join our Pastry team on a Part-Time basis! Your commitment to growing your pastry skills will contribute to creating memorable dining and banquet experiences that will see guests returning time and time again. Reporting to the Executive Chef, your responsibilities will include: Assist with the food preparation and production for breakfast, lunch, dinner, room service, banqueting and buffet service. Contribute to and maintain clean, hygienic and organised work environments to ensure efficiency within the kitchen and ensure HACCP standards are maintained. Perform tasks within a timely manner to ensure high guest satisfaction. Maintain and collaborate on stock rotation / stock control processes to reduce wastage and maintain hygiene and cleanliness standards. Promote and express your passions of the art of culinary through creating consistently great food production, in line with high quality standards. Liaise with the Kitchen teams on special requests or delayed meals/ production. Qualifications About You: Qualification: Certificate III in Patisserie (or equivalent) preferred. A can-do attitude and the ability to work effectively within a team. Strong desire to achieve high results, driven by success. Creative minded with a passion and desire to learn. Previous experience working within a fast-paced kitchen. Previous experience working in a banqueting environment is highly regarded. Excellent technical knowledge with experience in a variety of cooking techniques and styles. Understanding of workplace health and safety principals. Food Safety Certificate is essential. Flexibility to work on a rotating roster, including morning, afternoon, evening and weekend shifts. In addition to the above, to be successful as a Commis Chef in the Pastry Kitchen you will have: Excellent pastry-specific technical knowledge and ability. Ability to work with a range of pastry techniques. Strong passion to be creative and artistic with your work. High attention to detail.
